It did just that in strong fashion on Friday night, traveling to Lexington and turning in a 35-0 victory. “I’m absolutely proud of how our team played,” said Sidney head coach Chris Koozer. “It’s an overall team win, but our defense really stepped things up with the shutout.” The Red Raiders, who improved to 4-1 this season, opened up a 14-0 lead by the intermission on a pair of touchdown passes from Brady Radcliffe to Tyler Wintholz.... Full story

    POTTER – The Potter-Dix football team started out hot, but ultimately fell to Hay Springs, 58-16, on Friday night. The chilly evening started out well for the Coyotes (0-4) as they quickly got on the scoreboard. With only three minutes off the clock, quarterback Noah Nelson marched Potter-Dix up the field for the first touchdown of the game.     FOR THE SUN-TELEGRAPH The Creek Valley High football team slipped to 0-4 on the season, falling to Sutherland 76-16 on Friday on the road. Sutherland (2-2) opened up a 32-0 lead after the opening quarter and extended it to 54-8 by halftime. Austin Soucie and Garrett Sawyer each scored touchdowns for the Storm. The Lady Raiders defeated Gering in straight sets in their opening match 25-15, 25-18, and then downed host Kimball in three sets 17-25, 25-16, 25-23 in the nightcap.     A pair of Creek Valley High golfers earned medals at the Bridgeport Invite on Thursday. Maddy Johnson finished fifth overall, while teammate Jaden Criswell took 10th. This year, 230 children participated in the Sidney Public Library's Summer Reading Program, supported by the Friends of the Sidney Public Library.     FOR THE SUN-TELEGRAPH Theodore D. Medina, age 25 of Sidney, was sentenced Monday to serve the maximum possible term on two counts. On Sept. 8, Medina admitted to violating probation in two cases, according to Cheyenne County attorney Paul Schaub. Medina was found guilty of attempted assault in the 2nd degree, a class IV felony, and third-degree assault, a class I misdemeanor. Both verdicts were reached in 2013. He was sentenced Monday to serve 20 to 60 months in prison for attempted assault charge and 12 months in prison for the assault count....
