Sidney athletes won 11 events, the most of any school, at the Chadron State College High School Indoor Track and Field Meet held Saturday. But with approximately 500 athletes, and more than 800 entries, in the competition, there were winners from eight different schools. Two seniors were double winners among the girls. Greg McDaniel and Mitch Brown made it look easy in the first weekend of the Kimball Hospital Foundation 9-pin no-tap bowling tournament. The Nebraska Department of Roads (NDOR) has issued the first checks to Nebraska counties and first-class cities for road and street purposes since a change was made last year to the Federal Funds Purchase Program, increasing funding by $2.58 million. The American Plains Artists accepted four artworks by J. I. McElroy of Gurley for inclusion in its 2016 "Art of the Plains" Signature Show being exhibited at the South Wind Art Gallery in Topeka, Kan. The Sidney High School speech team finished fourth out of eight schools at the Class B-6 Speech Contest held Monday at Gering High School. The district champion was Gering with 386 points, while the runner-up was Gothenburg with 358 points. A review of initial information from the Conservation Survey Division and the Nebraska Oil and Gas Commission was seen at the March South Platte NRD meeting.
