The Sidney Red Raiders Golf team struggled to their worst team score of the season Thursday at the home of its most dangerous district opponent, Scottsbluff. Sidney finished the tournament with a total of 382 strokes at Scotts Bluff Country Club. Sidney's low score was again turned in by senior Brendon Brown, who recorded an 89. With a record setting number of competitors on Saturday the Sidney Shooting Park hosted the largest youth trap shoot ever held at the facility. A total of 210 youth from grades 5-12 toed the line to compete in the Jim Pohl Memorial Youth Trapshoot. The previous high for number of participants was the 176 from last year. With the bulk of the varsity team not in attendance and another injured during play, the Red Raiders finished fifth at the Alliance Invite Saturday. Creek Valley's Mason Low set a new standard for himself in two events while Hannah Schievelbein erased an old mark of hers that had stood for two years at the Wallace Invite on Tuesday at Sutherland High School. With Lane Godfrey topping the leaderboard, The Creek Valley golf team finished fourth among 12 teams competing Tuesday in the Perkins County Invite at West Wind Golf Course. Godfrey had even nines of 39 for his 78 total, despite the strong winds which caused much of the field to struggle. Bradey Holtz hit for the cycle and the Peetz baseball team couldn’t have found a better way to wrap up their regular season Tuesday as they swept both games from district rival Weldon Valley. Because of limited practice time and a truncated game schedule early in the season, the Bulldogs had struggled to get comfortable at the plate.
