Trey Arellano, an eighth grader at Sidney Middle School, earned All-American status by virtue of his performance at the AAU National Duals at HyVee Hall in Des Moines, Iowa the weekend of April 4-5. Arellano, who wrestles at 95 pounds, earned his place in the national duals meet by virtue of his 5-0 record at the AAU qualifier in Kearney a week earlier. Tyler Wintholz of Sidney High School led a group of nine local high school basketball players who were voted onto the 2015 Nebraska Associated Press boys' basketball teams. Two area players were named to the 2015 Nebraska Associated Press All-State girls basketball teams earlier this week as voted on by sports writers and sportscasters from around the state. In Class B, senior Savanna Rosenbaum of Sidney High School earned the honor while Potter-Dix freshman Audrey Juelfs was named to the Class D1 squad.
