SIDNEY-- The Holdrege Dusters made the long journey to Sidney Friday and were rudely greeted by a fired-up Red Raider team that quickly put a stop to any thoughts of the Holdrege team making the long journey back home with a victory under their belt. The Raiders piled up 211 rushing yards and 216 passing yards while holding the Dusters to just 94 rushing yards and 50 passing yards in a dominant performance that should put all other C1 teams on notice that this Sidney team is a force on both...
POTTER--Lately, there's been a rivalry between the Hay Springs Hawks and the Potter-Dix Coyotes, but the Coyotes have been the team that has had the edge in the contests. But that trend came to a screeching halt last Friday, as the Hawks descended upon Combs Field in Potter and clawed up the Coyotes, 88-to-53. The final score does not indicate how one-sided the game was, as the Coyotes were able to tack on some points late in a game that was pretty much decided by the end of the first quarter....
GERING--It was a beautiful day to hit the links, and the Sidney Lady Raider golf team hit 'em well on Monday, September 16, with both JV and Varsity teams earning third place in the competitive Invitational. WALLACE--Creek Valley's Storm Football team had a tough go last season, so their opening-day win against Minatare was a great way to start off the new season. Led by the running attack featuring juniors Zander Polk, Michael Prince Dugan, and sophomore Feenix Higginbotham, the Storm ran up 355 yards in their 48to-6 victory over the Indians. But in their next contest on September 6, the Storm made the long trip to Wallace only to get humbled by the Wildcats 81-to-6. Wallace scored early and often...

(Editor's Note: A correction/clarification has been made to the online version of this article. The original article said that Gwen Devie resigned her position in part because the issue of the water tower being decommissioned was not addressed properly. The reason for her resignation was solely over concerns of the village's handling of finances. We apologize for the error.) MINDEN NE--Last week the Red Raiders opened the season with a dominant, if not workman-like, performance in their victory over the Cozad Haymakers at Weymouth Field. In their follow-up performance, Sidney traveled three hours and took away a victory with big plays and aggressive defense. The team is proving to be very capable on both sides of the line with a well-balanced offense that makes big plays, and a defense that hits hard, gets to the ball quickly, and gets off the field. Friday night's...

HARRISON-- The Sioux County Warriors were able to build up an early lead against the Leyton Warriors on Friday, then held on to take the 46-to-31 victory. Leyton played well, scoring in every quarter, but the 20 points in the first quarter and 18 points in the second Sioux County put up were too much for the Warriors to overcome. Sophomore Austin Beutler excelled throwing the ball, passing for 153 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. The Warriors next travel to Crawford on Friday to take on...
ILIFF, CO.-- The Peetz Bulldogs looked to rebound from an opening-day loss to Potter-Dix, but the Caliche Buffaloes running game was too much for the Bulldogs to handle. Caliche started the game with the ball, and used five straight running plays to march down the field and take a 7-to-0 lead. Caliche then recovered an onside kick to get the ball again. The Buffaloes drove the ball agai...

Graduated seniors Isak Doty, Luke Holly, McGuire Rolls, and others were the keys to the Raider's outstanding success last year. Many of these questions were answered Friday night with a dominant performance in...
PEETZ--The Potter-Dix Coyotes and Peetz Bulldogs kicked off the 2024 season with an opening-day matchup in Peetz on Thursday, August 29. Peetz received the opening kickoff but had difficulty getting anything going on offense. They were forced to punt on fourth down, but a bad snap prevented a punt, and Potter-Dix took over for their first posse...
SIDNEY--The Lady Raiders lost a few key members of their 2023 team that finished 18-and-15, and it looks like there will be a learning curve as Sidney re-tools the Volleyball team for this season. Although the Lady Raiders will have to do without standouts like Karsyn Leeling, Chloe Ahrens, and Payton Schrotberger, Sidney still has a strong team that should be very competitive. Unfortunately, Sidney had to host one of the best teams in the region in its home opener on August 29, which exposed...
FLEMING, COLO.--Leyton's Warrior Football team traveled to Fleming Friday night for their first excursion into the world of 6-Man Football, and if their performance Friday night is any indicator, it looks like the Warriors will have no trouble adapting to the free-wheeling and open style of the 6-man game. The Warriors opened strong, piling up 22 points in the opening quarter while shutting down the Wildcat offense. The Warriors added 10 more points in the second quarter to take a 32-to-0 lead...
