    The Sidney American Legion Post 17 junior team traveled to Gordon Wednesday to face off against he Security First Regulator juniors, and Sidney starting pitcher Connor Hurt twirled a gem, shutting the Gordon team out, striking out five while scattering two hits and three walks over four full innings.     On Wednesday June 28, the Sidney American Legion Post 17 Senior Baseball team traveled up to Gordon for a game against the Security First Regulators. What started as a pitcher's duel turned into fast and furious finish as the home team was able to rally past the Post 17 Senior in the bottom of the 7th inning for the win.     SIDNEY - Sunday afternoon was a milestone for young Jayce Namuth of Sidney, as he was honored at the Lodgepole Valley Youth Camp for advancing to the highest possible rank in Boy Scouts, Eagle Scout.     Many long-time Sidney residents were saddened to hear of the passing of David Mowery on May 27 in Cape Coral, Florida. Mowery was well-known and respected in the Sidney community after moving here in the early 1980's to take the job as National Sales Manager for Safe Play Tuff Wear, a manufacturer of boxing equipment.     WALK OFF: Sidney's Reid Ficus comes through again for the Sidney Post 17 Junior team, clearing the bases with a triple and invoking the mercy rule to end the game against Ogallala on June 14.     On Saturday, June 17, the Potter-Dix Early Learning Facility held their annual Summer Shenanigans Golf Fundraiser at Prairie Pines Golf Course in Potter. 10 teams participated in the event, which raises money for the Early Learning Facility.     The second annual MAC vs. MNAC Basketball All-Star games were held at Sutherland High School Saturday afternoon. Graduated seniors from area MAC conference schools participated in the games.   • RV Fire Disrupts Monday Business at Maverik

    A fire that started in an older Recreational Vehicle that had stopped to refuel at the Maverik service center at 655 Cabela Drive in Sidney around 10 a.m. disrupted business at the Maverik station for a short while, while local fire and law enforcement contained the blaze and kept the area clear for safety.
