It was another week of weather cancelling and postponing games as rain and lightning covered the area for most of...

Over the course of the year, papers can easily pile up and cramp your space. however, just throwing out papers is not a very safe thing to do, as much of the paperwork people accumulate through the course of a year contains personal and sensitive information, and should be destroyed properly. Papers taking up your space becomes a bigger problem when disposing of the old sheets hasn’t been done for a few years. Enter Keep Sidney Beautiful and their annual “Shred-It” program. A large percentage of Nebraskans are frustrated by the Byzantine tax system in Nebraska, with its myriad of exemptions and special-interest benefits that end up ranking Nebraska 38th highest out of 50 states in overall tax burden. And in a state where 100% of the tax burden falls on just 60% of the population, support for an overhaul in Nebraska's tax system is growing. Many Nebraskans were cheered to hear of the recent tax-cut legislation that was passed, only to have their optimism brought...

The weather may not have been ideal, but it did not put a damper on the festivities of Cruise Night on Friday. A long line of cars, many classic and historical, cruised up and down Illinois Venue down to Ft. Sidney road and back, playing old-style cruising music on their radios while waving to the many that had braved the rains to participate in the event. The traffic jam was so significant that Google Maps showed the tie-up on their popular mapping application. There were hotdogs, burgers,...

It was an historic day for a Sidney Red Raider Track and Field team that sent a slate of qualifiers with high expectations, and at the end of the second day's competition, the Red Raiders were heading home with four individual State Titles. It wasn't the biggest of surprises to take home four gold medals, two each by junior Lady Raiders Chloe Ahrens and Karsyn Leeling. In many ways the finishes from all of the Red Raider athletes were pretty much as predicted prior to the competition. But that i...
