    Every five years multi-jurisdictional entities update a hazard mitigation plan, it’s purpose to evaluate and eliminate or reduce risks to residents and property in the occurrence of a disaster. South Platte Natural Resource District’s (NRD), Water Resources Specialist, Ryan Reisdorff, said the area plan was last updated in 2012 and is updated every five years.     Phone scams are not a new occurrence to Cheyenne County residents, but a new surge of calls warrants residents to take precautionary measures when dealing with potential criminal callers.     LINCOLN (AP) — A new state audit has uncovered serious flaws in the operations of a Nebraska agency that’s key to the governor’s goal of growing Nebraska’s economy. The audit, released Tuesday, says the Department of Economic Development spent millions of dollars on grants and contracts during 2015 without adequate documentation or monitoring.     Sidney will host it’s annual Night of Hope cancer walk in Legion Park on Friday August 12. This inspired walk brings the community together to help raise funds for local cancer patients.     Authorities are still looking for a motorist involved in a hit and run that occurred west of Sidney on Hwy. 30 last week. According to a Cheyenne County Sheriff’s accident report at 8:55 p.m. on Friday, July 22, a white 2003 Chevrolet pick-up truck driven by 60 year-old Edwin Bennet was traveling west bound on Hwy. 30 near mile marker 55 when it was clipped by a motorcycle approaching from behind him.     A Loaded grain truck was struck by a train when it stalled on the tracks near Gurley Wednesday night.     A Sidney bicyclist was transported to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff Wednesday after he was clipped by the edge of a semi truck.     A Sidney man's case was moved up to Cheyenne County District Court following an alleged assault that took place in the alley behind a local bar.
