A Sidney Public School bus experienced an electrical issue that resulted in smoke and a small fire on Thursday afternoon.
Sidney Public Schools informed parents and guardians of the issue, which lead to drop offs being delayed.
According to a Sidney Public Schools representative, the students, staff and bus driver evacuated the bus as they had practiced.
“The students had been trained on how to evacuate in school previously,” said Sidney Middle School Principal and Transportation Director Brandon Ross. “The driver got the students off of the bus and put out the small fire. The process worked perfectly. We are very proud of how both the driver and the students handled the situation.”
Another bus was called to transport students home.
